SAFETY PROTOCOL
Due to the relatively lush grasslands
(for NM) and the proximity to nearby gas wells and tanks, we
have some more rigid safety rules.
These rules may be adjusted if necessary but Prefect/RSO has
final say at any launch.
4CRA will follow the Tripoli Safety Code |
The following are in addition
to the Tripoli code |
Due to the "grasslands", sparky motors
are NOT allowed (unless LCO/Prefect make explicit excptions based
on current conditions). |
Due to the neaby gas wells and tank, every high
power rocket MUST have redundant apogee deployment. Either motor
ejection plus electronics or dual redundant electronics is required. |
If a L1 Cert is of construction of a plastic
nose cone and non-fiber-reinforced cardboard body, then it may
be allowed - Prefect/RSO has final say. |
Anything L2 or higher (regardless of construction)
should plan for dual redundant apogee deployments. |
Any "home made" or "user assembled"
electronics MUST have Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) redundancy. |
Low/Mid Power Restrictions |
Anything with a fiberglass airframe or weighted
/ metal tipped nose cone must meet the "redundant dual apogee"
requirements above. |
If rocket is not high power (< H motor)
and entirely cardboard / plastic construction then simple 'motor
eject' is acceptable. |
